Social internship for Mehrer trainees
Over the past few weeks, three third-year apprentices at Mehrer Compression have completed a social internship at the Zollernalb Werkstätten (ZAW) in Lautlingen. The Zollernalb workshops offer around 300 challenging jobs for people with mental and multiple disabilities, making an important contribution to social integration.
From 6 to 17 November 2023, the trainees swapped their jobs at Mehrer for positions in various departments at ZAW. They were actively involved in assembly as well as metal and plastics processing and were able to gain valuable practical experience.
This internship not only gave the trainees a deep insight into the working world of people with disabilities, but also fostered their social skills and empathy. The time at Zollernalb Werkstätten was a formative experience that helped the trainees to develop a better understanding of the challenges and strengths of people with disabilities.
Such social commitments are an essential part of the training programme at Mehrer in order to develop the future specialists not only professionally, but also on a personal level.
