Dual study program

Mechatronics

(m/f/d)

You want to start a Dual Study program that combines mechanical engineering, electronics, and computer science – and shows You how modern technical systems are developed and brought to life?
You’re curious about innovative technologies, enjoy thinking in interconnected ways, and like understanding complex processes while putting Your own ideas into practice? Then the Dual Study Program in Mechatronics (m/f/d) at Mehrer is exactly the right choice for You!

  • Location // Balingen
  • Duration of study // 3 years (6 semesters)
  • University // DHBW Campus Horb
  • Degree // Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.)

What awaits You on the dual study program
In the Dual Study Program in Mechatronics, You combine the three core disciplines of computer science, electronics, and mechanical engineering. You can look forward to exciting content from the following areas:

  • Fundamentals of electrical engineering
  • Computer science and programming
  • Modeling of mechatronic systems & control engineering
  • Applied materials science
  • Digital systems and microcontrollers

During Your first practical phase, You will get to know key technical departments at Mehrer, including:

  • Training workshop – This is where You build Your foundational skills in handling tools and machines
  • Production planning and control – You gain insights into how manufacturing processes are organized
  • Quality management – You learn how products and processes are inspected and continuously improved
  • Development and design engineering – You actively contribute to real technical projects
  • Electrical engineering, electromechanics, and test bench operations – You dive deep into the world of control technology and the electrical systems used in our compressors

Starting in the second semester, You will take on your own projects and work actively across various departments – always with the goal of developing innovative products and improving technical processes.

Your profile
You have a general or subject-specific university entrance qualification and demonstrate strong performance in mathematics, physics, engineering subjects and English. Your technical understanding is well developed – especially in the areas of mechanics, electrical engineering and programming – and You are genuinely interested in how technical systems interact. You enjoy analyzing complex situations, think logically, and work both independently and as part of a team with focus and reliability. With Your willingness to learn and Your practical, solution‑oriented mindset, You bring the ideal qualifications for the dual study program in Mechatronics at Mehrer.

Note: You can also start a Dual Study Program with a university of applied sciences entrance qualification if You successfully pass the Delta exam.
