CO₂ capture at high altitudes under extreme conditions
Application | CO2 recovery
Country | Tibet
Challenge
At high altitudes, specific conditions prevail, such as low air pressure and reduced system performance. For CO₂ recovery, this places additional demands on the design and operation of the compressors.
Solution
Reciprocating compressors enable reliable CO₂ compression even under demanding environmental conditions.
The systems used are designed to operate stably even at reduced ambient pressure, ensuring continuous recovery.
Implementation in Tibet
At a brewery situated at an altitude of over 3,600 metres, TZW 70 series reciprocating compressors are used for CO₂ recovery.
Despite the extreme conditions, the plant processes up to 380 kg of CO₂ per hour with only a minimal loss of capacity. The systems are fully integrated into the production process and ensure reliable operation.
Results
- Reliable CO₂ recovery at high altitude
- Stable operation despite reduced ambient pressure
- High system performance with minimal loss of capacity
- Secure integration into the production process
